Bari Waterfront

Collaboration on Master Course Studio 4 - AY 2016 - KTH - Royal Stockholm Polytechnic UniversityThe aim of the course was to analyse, understand and suggest sustainable solutions to an evolving and developing city, addressing issues such as: population growth, traffic and transport problems, urban agriculture, tourism, environmental sustainability, and other factors that are poorly planned and controlled to date.The city of Bari was analysed by addressing mainly the waterfront: its long coastline and port area. The part of the territory on which the course focused most was the south coast, in particular the seam between the coastal area of the city and the sea.Apulia is changing due to tourism, migration, intensive agriculture and the expansion of industry, factors that would require greater control and steering towards coherent and sustainable development. In particular, Bari, besides being the regional capital, is a reference point for the whole of Apulia and plays an important role in its growth, being an indicator of the direction of development for the rest of the region.
